In October 2020, the men and women of the Shrewsbury Area Centennial Lions Club celebrate 3 successful years.
-
There are currently 27 members.
-
Meetings are held twice monthly at Paul Smith Library, 80 Constitution Ave. 1st Monday at 7:00-8:00 PM and 3rd Tuesday 12:00-1:00 PM.
-
Members pay club dues which cover all administrative costs. This ensures that 100% of funds raised go back into serving the needs of the community.
-
Annual community service activities include, but are not limited to early childhood vision screenings, food drives, support for residents of Strasburg Haus Apartments at SpiriTrust Lutheran, and participation at the Shrewsbury Christmas Tree Lighting.
-
Fundraising projects include an annual community yard sale, broom sales (made by blind and visually impaired persons), and white cane events. Funds from these efforts are reinvested within the community at 100% dollar for dollar.
-
Our support is given through monetary donations as well as time and labor. We support Paul Smith Library of Southern York County, Southern York County Food Pantry, Strasburg Haus Apartment residents, Leader Dogs for the Blind, and Lions Club International Foundation.
-
Through contributions to the Lions Club International Foundation, members support our five global causes: diabetes, vision, hunger, environment, and childhood cancer. LCIF also contributes to humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and youth needs.
